Am I too old for Orthodontics?
No…Adults can get orthodontic treatment regardless of their age. Almost 1/3 of our patients are adults. In fact our eldest patient was 81 years old when she started treatment. We are treating many patients who are well into their 60’s. The health of your mouth, NOT your age determines whether or not you are suitable for orthodontics. In fact the average treatment time in adults is no different than the average treatment time in children or teenagers. You can get the beautiful, healthy smile you have always wanted that can last you the rest of your life. It is never too late. We offer flexible payment plans and family discounts to make treatment affordable.

Are my braces going to be visible?
We have many different esthetic solutions for all of our patients. We offer clear braces and "invisable" braces, and removable devices that do not have to be worn in public. More information on esthetic braces

Do I need to go to my dentist during orthodontic treatment at Smile Solutions?
YES! You should get your teeth cleaned at least every 6 months and all of your other dental care at your dentist. We are orthodontists and are specialists at ONLY orthodontics.

Does my dentist need to refer me?
NO. Just contact our office to set up your free consultation.

How long will orthodontic treatment take?
In general, active treatment time with orthodontic appliances (braces) ranges from one to two years. Interceptive and Preventative Treatments for children and adolescents usually are shorter treatment. The actual time depends on the growth of the patient’s mouth and face, the cooperation of the patient and the severity of the problem. Mild problems usually require less time, and some individuals respond faster to treatment than others.

While orthodontic treatment requires a time commitment, patients are rewarded with a beautiful, healthy teeth smile that lasts a lifetime! Orthodontic treatment can help your smile look better, work better, contribute to your oral health and can improve self-confidence.

My child still has baby teeth. Is he/she too young for orthodontic treatment?
NO. Every child should have an orthodontic exam by age 10. We do not treat by how old a person is but based upon their unique situation. There are many things that need to be treated and prevented as your child is growing before all of the adult teeth are in his/her mouth. Certain treatments cannot be done once he/she has stopped growing. Treatment can be done during the growth stage of your child to treat jaw related problems, prevent gum disease, and decrease the need for extractions of adult teeth and jaw surgery to correct orthodontic problems. It is therefore in your child’s best interest to have a complementary orthodontic exam at our office to see if any problems in their mouth can be corrected early to prevent or decrease future problems in their mouth. If treatment is indicated and you proceed with it, we will deduct a substantial portion of its cost from future braces if they are needed at all.

What are the benefits of orthodontic treatment?
Your dentist may have discussed with you the benefits of having healthy teeth and proper jaw alignment. Crooked and crowded teeth are hard to clean and maintain. This can result in tooth decay, worsen gum disease and lead to tooth loss. Other orthodontic problems can contribute to abnormal wear of tooth surfaces, inefficient chewing function, excessive stress on gum tissue and the bone that supports the teeth, or misalignment of the jaw joints. These can lead to chronic headaches and face or neck pain.

Our orthodontic treatments can be less costly than the additional care required for treating dental problems arising as a result of orthodontic problems. For most people, a beautiful smile is the most obvious benefit of orthodontics. After your treatment, you may even feel more self-confident and be proud to smile!
